1. Novartis, a Swiss multinational pharmaceutical corporation headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, that develops and markets innovative medicines, has developed a new drug called GanLum (ganaplacide/lumefantrine). It completed its Phase III trial and demonstrated ~97.4% cure rate. If approved, it could become the first major advance in malaria treatment in decades, helping fight rising drug resistance and potentially saving hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide.
2. In a historic move, California returned 17,030 acres of ancestral land to the Tule River Indian Tribe. The restored land will support wildlife reintroduction, protect ecosystems, and help repair long-standing injustices tied to land dispossession.
3. With Thanksgiving, various efforts across the U.S. ramped up to help people struggling with food insecurity: some grocery stores offered free delivery to those unable or hesitant to leave home, while community organizers provided “Thanksgiving in a Box” kits so families could still enjoy a holiday meal. This kind of grassroots generosity shows up-time and again during the holidays, even in difficult economic times.
